The official journal of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Physicians, CANDJ, has published an anti-Israel slander that accuses Jerusalem of “genocide.”

The Canadian Association of Naturopathic Physicians (CAND) is the official representative of its 2,500 member practitioners across Canada, and in its official journal, CANDJ, aims to “present the best practices of the naturopathic profession to members, health care professionals, stakeholders, colleagues, government and the public.”

However, a March 2026 article in CANDJ scoffed at the journal’s promise to provide readers with “the best practices of the natural profession” and instead provided an anti-Israeli hack eye full of cherry-picked data, false facts, censored inconvenient details, and nothing to do with medicine.

The article, “Naturopaths must speak out against human rights abuses in Palestine,” was written by Leslie Soleimani, Cindy Gilbert, Samantha Clothier, Vivian Liang, Kayla Wright and Kim Abaugh.

Leslie Solomonian is an associate professor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Cindy Gilbert is a Toronto-based naturopath whose website apologizes for the “colonialism and oppression” of her profession, Samantha (Sam) Clothier is based in Fort McBaing, Liebering, Webering. A naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist, Kayla Wright is a naturopathic doctor in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, while Kim Abaugh is a naturopathic doctor and doula in Toronto.

There is clearly no relevant expertise in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from these biographies, but this does not prevent the authors from expressing their views.

They made the absurd claim that “people in the Gaza Strip are dying in the streets due to man-made starvation,” linking to a BBC article that quoted Hamas – a hardly reliable source – as claiming that some 270 people had died of malnutrition in Gaza.

Even if such a number is verified – which it is not – it is by no means a famine in a population of 2.3 million people. Even by Hamas’ own claims, the death rate from malnutrition is similar to that of the United States, where there is no famine.

The authors claimed that “a lot of aid” was available, but that it was “denied by the State of Israel.”

It’s also stupid, Israel repeatedly and publicly distributes massive food aid to Gaza, only for so-called “humanitarian” organizations to fail to deliver. Meanwhile, in Gaza, the scene showed the charm of markets and restaurants, hardly what was seen during the “famine”.

Predictably, the authors repeated the tired claim of “genocide” in Gaza, but instead of actually defending their accusation, they appealed to authority, writing that “almost all major human rights” groups have labeled it as such, “including the United Nations.”

The supposed experts linked to the article include the now debunked claim by the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS), which anyone with a credit card can join, and Amnesty International, which has had to redefine genocide in order to justify the charge against Israel.

As for the UN, it never found that Israel was guilty of genocide. Instead, it was a three-person committee run by longtime anti-Israel activists who did it. It is noteworthy that this blatant lie was allowed to accumulate in CANDJ.

While the writers have created an unflattering picture of Gaza, they have diligently withheld from readers any memory of why the war broke out there. They vaguely mention “the situation since October 2023…” while avoiding the horrific massacre of 7 October 2023 by thousands of Palestinian terrorists alongside other Palestinian “civilians”.

Authors are entitled to their opinions, as they are uninformed. But it is a black mark on the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Physicians (CAND) and its official journal CANDJ for publishing an anti-Israel tirade that shamelessly misrepresents the facts and censors inappropriate details from public view, all in the name of medicine.
